Humanitarian Operations Carried Out to Sustain War
Yoav Gallant, Israel's Minister of Defense, stated on the 10th (local time) that "the Israel Defense Forces have eliminated or injured 60% of Hamas terrorists."
According to major Israeli media on the day, Minister Gallant responded to a question from a member of the Knesset, Hard Tal, regarding the progress of the war, saying, "We have dismantled the majority of Hamas's 24 battalions."
He said, "We have returned half of the hostages held by Hamas and intend to bring back all the rest as well."
Minister Gallant conveyed that "the cabinet decided that humanitarian operations must be pursued to continue the war," and that Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu approved supplying power to operate the seawater desalination facilities in the Gaza Strip, Palestine.
Israel has not reduced the intensity of attacks on the Gaza Strip, even as ceasefire negotiations with Hamas through mediators have been accelerating recently.
In May, the British BBC reported that since the outbreak of the war last October, it is estimated that half of the water facilities in the Gaza Strip, including wells and seawater desalination plants, have been destroyed.
