High-Risk Workplaces Selected for Fire and Explosion Technical Guidance
The Busan Regional Headquarters of the Korea Occupational Safety and Health Agency (Director Gong Heungdu) announced on the 10th that it had conducted intensive inspections to check compliance with fire and explosion risk prevention measures at workplaces, in order to prevent accidents similar to the recent fire incident at a primary battery manufacturing company in Hwaseong, Gyeonggi Province.
This inspection targeted 1,080 sites nationwide, including 100 in Busan, focusing on ▲the current status of fire and explosion accident prevention at workplaces ▲the status of worker safety and health education ▲emergency response systems ▲installation and maintenance of emergency exits, among other key areas.
In addition, the Busan Regional Headquarters is taking the seriousness of recent major accidents very seriously and will select high-risk workplaces in the region (mainly those required to prepare and submit MSDS) as primary targets to provide technical guidance for fire and explosion prevention.
Director Gong Heungdu stated, "We will deploy the maximum available workforce of the Busan Regional Headquarters for this intensive inspection to identify potential fire and explosion hazards at workplaces and establish a constant prevention system. We will also communicate once again with the field regarding safety reinforcement measures for foreign workers and continue to strengthen our response."
