Emergency National Disaster Relief Operation 'BGF Bridge' Activated
Providing Food and Beverages for 1,000 People Including Bottled Water, Ramen, and Choco Bars
BGF Retail, which operates the convenience store CU, announced on the 10th that it has provided emergency relief supplies to the flood-affected Andong area in Gyeongbuk.
According to the Korea Meteorological Administration and others, the Andong area in Gyeongbuk experienced heavy rain exceeding 50mm per hour starting from the night of the 7th. This caused damage to houses and public facilities, and many residents were temporarily isolated before being rescued, resulting in numerous disaster victims.

Upon receiving the support request that day, BGF Retail activated 'BGF Bridge,' a disaster emergency relief operation established with the Ministry of the Interior and Safety and the National Disaster Relief Association, and urgently delivered relief supplies to the affected site.
The relief supplies provided this time include food and beverages such as bottled water, ramen, chocolate bars, bread, and coffee, enough for about 1,000 people, which will be supplied to disaster victims and relief personnel. The same relief supplies for 300 people will also be provided to Yeongdong County in Chungbuk. BGF Retail is also considering additional support for affected areas depending on the rainfall situation.
BGF Retail signed a 'Business Agreement on Disaster Prevention and Relief' with the Ministry of the Interior and Safety and others in 2015, the first in the industry, and supports national disaster prevention and emergency relief activities based on a network of more than 30 logistics centers and about 18,000 stores nationwide. Through this, relief supplies are provided to residents and recovery personnel in affected areas via regional logistics centers whenever various disasters such as heavy rain, typhoons, wildfires, and droughts occur.
Son Ji-wook, Head of Communications at BGF Retail, said, "We will actively engage in support activities to minimize residents' damage from the ongoing heavy rain and enable swift recovery," adding, "We will continue to strengthen the public function of convenience stores to quickly provide help using our nationwide network whenever various disasters occur."
