Middle Deck Sinks 35cm to 40cm... Complete Vehicle Restriction
Emergency Precision Safety Inspection Followed by Repairs and Reinforcement... Unavoidable Inconvenience Due to Vehicle Detours
The top deck of Yudeunggyo Bridge submerged due to heavy rain in the early morning of the 10th / Daejeon City
There are growing concerns about prolonged inconvenience for citizens as the entire traffic flow has been suspended due to part of the deck of Yudeunggyo, a bridge connecting Doma-dong in Seo-gu and Yucheon-dong in Jung-gu, Daejeon, sinking after heavy rainfall.
According to Daejeon City on the 10th, at around 8:20 a.m. that day, a report was made to the police that part of Yudeunggyo had subsided, and the police notified the city's road department of this fact.
Upon inspection at the site, the department found that the middle deck of Yudeunggyo had sunk by 35cm to 40cm. The city plans to inspect the underside of the bridge for any abnormalities once the river water level drops.
Yudeunggyo, first constructed in 1970, was expanded from the original four lanes to the current eight lanes as the city grew, but the section initially built has shown the most significant subsidence.
Yudeunggyo is a major road connecting Doma-dong in Seo-gu and Yucheon-dong in Jung-gu, with a high volume of daily traffic.
A city official said, "We plan to conduct an emergency detailed safety inspection with the Construction Headquarters and carry out repairs and reinforcement," adding, "At this point, it is difficult to estimate how long the safety inspection and restoration will take."
