On the 9th, Korea Zinc announced on the 10th that more than 30 employees and Red Cross volunteers directly prepared grilled eel at the Northern Volunteer Center of the Korean Red Cross Seoul Metropolitan Branch in Nowon-gu, Seoul, and delivered it along with seasonal summer fruits to 150 vulnerable households, including elderly living alone and single-parent families. Additionally, summer bedding sets worth approximately 15 million KRW were provided for disaster-vulnerable groups who have difficulty using electricity due to the extreme heat during the hot season.
Since 2019, Korea Zinc has taken the lead in protecting vulnerable groups by donating 30 million KRW annually. In cooperation with the Korean Red Cross, they have continuously supported winter preparations through sharing side dishes, kimchi making, and briquette distribution every year, in addition to summer sharing volunteer activities. Furthermore, they have sustained various social contribution activities such as sponsoring child welfare centers, improving housing environments for vulnerable groups, cultural and artistic projects, and medical volunteer services.
Kim Kijun, Head of the Sustainability Management Division at Korea Zinc, who participated in the volunteer activity, said, "The heatwave is one of the most unbearable hardships for vulnerable groups, and we are honored that Korea Zinc can help them have a healthy summer even in a small way." He added, "As Korea Zinc celebrates its 50th anniversary, we will continue to strengthen our social contribution activities and strive to provide practical support to the local community."
