Discussion on Mutual Exchange and Cooperation Measures between Busan and Japan with Chairman Masaharu Nakagawa at City Hall, 2:10 PM on the 9th
On the afternoon of the 9th at 2:10 PM, Busan Mayor Park Hyungjoon met with members of the Japan Constitutional Democratic Party Korea-Japan Friendship Parliamentary League at the City Hall International Protocol Room to discuss ways to promote mutual exchange and cooperation between Busan and Japan.
At 2:10 PM on the 9th, Busan Mayor Park Hyungjun met with members of the Japan Constitutional Democratic Party-Korea-Japan Friendship Parliamentarians' League at City Hall.
The meeting was attended by ten parliamentarians, including Masaharu Nakagawa, Shu Watanabe, and Tomoko Abe, as well as Tsuyoshi Otsuka, Consul General of Japan in Busan.
This visit by the Japan Constitutional Democratic Party Korea-Japan Friendship Parliamentary League to Busan was arranged to discuss various measures to invigorate exchange and cooperation between the two regions, in line with the increasing exchanges between Busan and Japan.
This is also the first visit to Busan by the Japan Constitutional Democratic Party Korea-Japan Friendship Parliamentary League since its establishment in March 2023.
Mayor Park Hyungjoon said, "I am very pleased to have this meaningful meeting with members of the Japanese parliament who have a great interest in Korea," and added, "Thank you for visiting Busan despite your busy schedules." He continued, "Busan is implementing various support measures this year to boost the tourism market and secure a competitive edge. I hope the parliament will help encourage more Japanese tourists to visit Busan."
In response, Masaharu Nakagawa, chair of the Korea-Japan Friendship Parliamentary League, said, "After visiting Korea last year and Busan for the first time this year, we are working to promote friendship and exchanges between the two regions. Cooperation between Korea and Japan is essential for the prosperity of Northeast Asia, and we will actively pursue shuttle diplomacy among parliamentarians. We will also make efforts in our parliament to ensure that Busan citizens can easily visit Japan."
Mayor Park concluded the meeting by saying, "Korea and Japan share common issues such as declining growth rates, low birth rates, and regional disparities, and our future depends on overcoming them. As a solution, we will strive to make Busan a 'global hub city' and strengthen cooperation and exchanges with various cities in Japan."
