Korea Railroad Corporation (KORAIL) announced on the 10th that from the first train, the operation of general trains such as Mugunghwa-ho and ITX-Saemaeul will be fully or partially suspended on certain sections.
The sections where operation is completely suspended are the Janghang Line (Cheonan~Iksan), Gyeongbuk Line (Gimcheon~Yeongju), and Chungbuk Line (Jochiwon~Bongyang). The Janghang Line and Gyeongbuk Line will be suspended until 6 PM on the same day, and the Chungbuk Line until 9 AM.
The sections where operation is partially suspended are the Gyeongbu Line (Seoul~Dongdaegu), Honam Line (Seodaejeon~Iksan), Jungang Line, Yeongdong Line, Taebaek Line, and Jeolla Line. The Gyeongbu Line and Honam Line will be suspended until 9 AM, and the other lines until 8 AM.
KORAIL explained that the full or partial suspension of general train operations is to ensure safety from risks such as track flooding, landslides, and falling rocks caused by heavy rainfall concentrated in the central region.
All sections of the KTX and metropolitan railways operated by KORAIL (Seoul Metropolitan Subway, Donghae Line) will operate normally. However, some sections of the KTX may run at reduced speeds due to heavy rain.
Tickets for trains with suspended operations will be automatically refunded without penalty, and detailed information on other ticket refunds can be found on the website.
A KORAIL official stated, “The resumption of train operations may vary depending on weather conditions,” and urged, “Train passengers should be sure to check train operation status on KORAIL Talk, the website, and the railway customer center.”
