Naver announced on the 10th that it will collaborate with Seongnam City in Gyeonggi Province to enhance information accessibility for local community resource circulation.
On the previous day, Naver and Seongnam City signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) focused on improving access to information about Seongnam Resource Circulation Store re100 through integration with Naver Smart Place.
Through this agreement, Naver will link with Seongnam City's integrated resource circulation platform to provide information related to Seongnam Resource Circulation Store re100 on Naver and Naver Maps. Seongnam Resource Circulation Store re100 is a major project by Seongnam City where citizens can bring recyclable resources to resource circulation stores and exchange them for points redeemable for cash. The goal is to achieve 100% recycling of the collected resources.
Starting from the second half of this year, users will be able to easily check various information about Seongnam Resource Circulation Store re100 locations, including ▲location ▲operating hours ▲contact information ▲collected items ▲reward amounts ▲webpages, through Naver and Naver Maps.
With significantly improved access to resource circulation-related information through this agreement, Naver is expected to contribute to revitalizing the circular economy within the local community. Beginning with the partnership with Seongnam City, Naver plans to establish various partnerships in the future to spread the culture of resource recycling practices nationwide.
Lim Dong-a, Naver’s External & ESG Policy Leader, stated, "Naver is doing its best to ensure various resources circulate within Naver’s headquarters and data centers to expand resource reuse," adding, "As a leading ESG (Environmental, Social, and Governance) company, we will strive to spread carbon neutrality and resource circulation-related information and culture throughout local communities."
Meanwhile, Naver continues to promote ESG values in cooperation with government and public institutions such as the Ministry of Oceans and Fisheries, Ministry of Environment, 2050 Carbon Neutral Green Growth Committee, and Korea Water Resources Corporation. Additionally, Naver practices waste reduction and resource circulation by recycling server room waste heat and rainwater at each Sejong data center operation, and collaborating with environmental startups to recycle PET bottles and cans emitted from its second headquarters 1784 into building materials and T-shirts.
