Dobong-gu Announces Results of '2024 Dobong Policy Survey'
Survey of Approximately 1,000 Adults Aged 19 and Over Residing in Dobong-gu
90% of Respondents "Very Satisfied" with 8 Core Projects in 8 Key Areas of the 8th Elected Administration
According to the results of a policy survey conducted in Dobong-gu, 96.7% of residents expressed satisfaction with the direction of key projects under the 8th elected administration.
Dobong-gu (Mayor Oh Eon-seok) conducted the 2024 Dobong-gu policy survey to mark the 2nd anniversary of the 8th elected administration and announced the results.
This survey was commissioned to the professional research firm Ace Research Co., Ltd., and was conducted through one-on-one face-to-face interviews with 1,029 residents from May 18 to June 6. The sampling error margin is ±3.1 percentage points at a 95.0% confidence level.
When asked about living conditions in Dobong-gu, 95.9% of respondents answered that it is "good to live." The factors contributing to satisfaction included a safe environment (29.6%) and convenient transportation (29.4%).
The overall satisfaction rate among residents aware of the eight key project areas of the 8th elected administration was 96.7%, indicating that the majority of residents are satisfied with the district administration.
By sector, satisfaction was highest for transportation infrastructure expansion related to GTX and light rail (99.3%) and park expansion and creation of red clay trails related to park and leisure facilities (99.0%). This is interpreted as the tangible results of previously stalled projects such as the undergrounding of the GTX-C Dobong section and the rapid promotion of the Ui-Banghak light rail, fulfilling residents’ long-standing wishes one by one.
Following these were ▲support for socially vulnerable groups (97.9%), ▲culture and recreational sports (96.8%), ▲residential environment improvement (96.3%), ▲local economic revitalization (95.9%), ▲communication with residents (95.0%), and ▲industry and tourism revitalization (93.6%).
Among youth policies preferred in the support for socially vulnerable groups, “support for corporate internships” and “provision of employment and start-up programs” were most favored. This is seen as the result of actively promoting various youth-tailored policies from the early stages of the 8th elected administration, including raising the youth age limit, implementing youth internships, and establishing a start-up ecosystem. Additionally, “prevention and management of chronic diseases” and “health management visits for medically vulnerable groups” were also highly rated.
Preferred policies in the transportation sector included “installation of elevators and escalators at subway stations” and “expansion of heated seats and windbreak facilities at bus stops.” The district analyzed that many residents use public transportation and thus most desire improved convenience facilities for buses and subways.
The survey also asked residents about the role they expect from the district mayor. In response, 26.6% of residents wanted a mayor with strong driving force. This was followed by a field expert (22.9%), resident communication (19.4%), and sales expert (15.5%).
Regarding facilities that Dobong-gu should increase to improve quality of life, respondents answered park and leisure facilities (21.7%), cultural and arts facilities (18.9%), sports facilities (13.8%), and social welfare facilities (13.0%).
Mayor Oh Eon-seok of Dobong-gu said, “Over the past two years, we have worked tirelessly on-site to resolve long-standing resident demands, such as the maintenance of noise barriers on the Gyeongwon Line for the first time in 33 years, relaxation of floor area ratio regulations in semi-industrial areas for the first time in 20 years, easing of altitude district regulations in Bukhansan for the first time in 34 years, and development of the former Dobong-dong chemical unit site for the first time in 7 years. It seems that these efforts have received positive evaluations from residents. We will utilize the residents’ opinions reflected in the district administration survey results as key data for major work plans and policies, and based on the strong policy support shown by residents, we will steadfastly lead the district administration without wavering in the remaining second half of the 8th elected administration.”
