Importance of the Natural Environment and Response to Climate Change
POSCO M-Tech, in collaboration with Green Umbrella Gyeongbuk Regional Headquarters and the Korea National Park Service, supported an outdoor nature exploration program for children from Sunrin Aeyukwon, Suncheon SOS Children's Village, and Yeongung Children's Center.
Officials and children from Pohang Sunrin Aeyukwon are taking a commemorative photo during an outdoor nature exploration activity.
This event was attended by 21 children from Sunrin Aeyukwon, 30 from Suncheon SOS Children's Village, and 7 from Yeongung Children's Center. It was planned to raise awareness among future generations about the importance of the natural environment and to enhance their understanding of climate change.
The Sunrin Aeyukwon program, held at the Gayasan Ecological Exploration Center, allowed children to get closer to nature and experience the importance of environmental protection through activities such as making flower pots using succulents, crafting wish lanterns with hanji at night, observing aquatic organisms, and exploring lowland forests.
On the same day, 30 children from Suncheon SOS Children's Village and 7 from Yeongung Children's Center visited the Hallyeohaesang Ecological Exploration Center, where they participated in natural soap making and received carbon neutrality education.
Additionally, through the Hansando yacht experience program, the children followed in the footsteps of Admiral Yi Sun-sin, gaining knowledge of history and learning about patriotism.
Park Jeongsuk, head of the Green Umbrella Gyeongbuk Regional Headquarters, said, "We hope that through this event, children will develop a love for and desire to protect nature," and added, "Green Umbrella will continue to work with POSCO M-Tech to ensure that children can grow up in a healthy environment."
Song Chiyoung, CEO of POSCO M-Tech, stated, "We will continue to provide unwavering support so that future generations can grow up in a healthy and clean environment," and added, "POSCO M-Tech will continue to develop various projects together with future generations."
