40s Woman Working in Delivery Industry Missing
A woman in her 40s went missing after being swept away by a rapid current while checking a submerged vehicle on a farm road in Gyeongsan-si, Gyeongbuk.
According to Yonhap News on the 9th, at around 5:12 a.m. that day, a woman in her 40s, identified as Ms. A, went missing after being swept away by rising waters in Bugicheon, a small stream in Pyeongsari, Jinryang-eup, Gyeongsan-si, Gyeongbuk. After reviewing black box footage from the vehicle, the police determined that Ms. A, who was driving, got out of the car and stood briefly outside when the vehicle became submerged, and was then swept away by the rapid current.

The first person to report the incident, a colleague of Ms. A, told the police at around 8:28 a.m. that they had lost contact with Ms. A after she said she could not make deliveries due to heavy rain. Ms. A was known to be working in the delivery service industry. Police and fire authorities have deployed 21 pieces of equipment and 93 personnel to search for Ms. A.
Meanwhile, the Gyeongsan area experienced heavy rainfall exceeding 180mm in some regions from the night of the 8th until noon of the same day. National Route 4 in front of Hosandae in Hayang-eup was flooded, leading to a complete vehicle ban for about an hour starting at 7 a.m., and vehicle traffic was also suspended on Daebu Underwater Bridge. Flooding damage to roads, houses, and vehicles occurred continuously in Hayang-eup, Jinryang-eup, and Wachon-myeon.
