Early Completion of Apartment Safety Inspections, Unannounced Construction Site Inspections, Maintenance of Street Trees Next to Power Distribution Lines
Dongdaemun-gu, Seoul (District Mayor Lee Pil-hyung) announced on the 9th that it is making every effort to improve safety measures for buildings and park green facilities and to prevent wind and flood disasters.
As a large amount of rain is expected this summer, they plan to strengthen their preparations in advance.
The main contents of the improved safety measures are ▲strengthening safety inspections and fire safety inspections for apartment complexes in preparation for the rainy season ▲enhancing safety management of construction sites and buildings ▲strengthening safety management of facilities in the park and green space sector.
As a detailed measure by sector, the district will complete early safety inspections of apartment complexes subject to inspection this year and conduct on-site re-inspections of apartment complexes with identified issues.
For construction sites and buildings, safety accidents will be prevented through detailed diagnostics by zone and surprise inspections, and inspection histories will be managed using the Building Safety Management System.
In addition, for street trees close to power distribution lines, joint safety inspections will be conducted with Korea Electric Power Corporation, and if necessary, maintenance (pruning) will be carried out to prepare for wind and flood disasters.
Lee Pil-hyung, Mayor of Dongdaemun-gu, said, “Accidents can happen anytime and anywhere, so I believe disaster preparedness is a battle of imagination. Only constant attention to safety can reduce the risk of accidents,” urging careful attention to every small detail.
