Call for Proposals Hosted by Jibang Sidae Committee
On the 9th, Icheon City in Gyeonggi Province announced that it was finally selected to participate in the '2024 Balanced Development Project Best Practices' support account field hosted by the Presidential Commission on the Local Era.
The Local Era Commission selects best practices every year to evaluate the performance of regional balanced development projects, spread successful balanced development models, and reward contributors. This year, after comprehensive evaluations including document reviews and field investigations, 10 organizations were selected as best practices in the regional support account projects.
Icheon City applied for this best practice under the theme "The Splendid Transformation of Icheon Rice: Fostering the Made-in-Icheon Rice Processing Industry." The city explained that it was highly evaluated for securing diversity in consumption methods of Icheon rice and promoting projects to expand the rice processing industry, contributing to regional balanced development and revitalization. The main projects promoted by the city included ▲ research and development of Icheon rice processed products and technology transfer ▲ fostering agricultural entrepreneurs for Icheon rice processing startups ▲ guidance projects and promotional marketing to revitalize the agricultural processing industry.
In particular, through independent research and technology development, the city developed and transferred technology for six processed products last year, including 'Icheon Rice 50-Won Bread' and 'Five-Color Icheon Rice Steamed Bun.' Along with this, through the specialty resource convergence technology support project, the city established a production base for rice flour and produced products such as 'Icheon Rice Flour Premix,' making efforts in the rice flour processing industry as well.
Meanwhile, the selected best practices will be announced in a best practices collection after an awards ceremony at the end of the year.
An official from the Icheon Agricultural Technology Center said, "We will continue to promote various regional balanced development projects that strengthen regional characteristics through active communication with farmers."
