On the 9th, Cho Myeongrae, the Second Vice Mayor of Changwon Special City in Gyeongnam, visited the Masan Fish Market with Kang Changyeol, head of Masanhappo District Office, and held a discussion meeting with market merchants including the Masan Fish Market Merchants Association and the Masan Fisheries Market Merchants Association to discuss ways to revitalize the local commercial district.


This meeting was organized as an opportunity to exchange various opinions with the goal of revitalizing the local economy and strengthening the competitiveness of traditional markets.


The main topics discussed at this meeting included: ▲Ways to link local festivals such as the Masan Chrysanthemum Festival with the market ▲The impact of the closure of Lotte Department Store Masan Branch on the local commercial district and countermeasures ▲Utilization plans for the Seohang waterfront space ▲Renovation of aging facilities, among others.

In particular, there was active discussion on ways to attract more visitors by linking Changwon’s local festivals with the fish market and raising the brand value of Masan Fish Market.


Various opinions from the field were also heard to seek countermeasures, and merchants were asked to thoroughly prepare for heavy rains and typhoons to ensure the safety of citizens visiting the market.


At the end of the meeting, Vice Mayor Cho stated, “Masan Fish Market is an important economic asset for our city, providing fresh seafood and a unique experience to local residents and tourists. Based on the various opinions discussed today, we will seek ways to maximize the market’s potential and further revitalize the Masan regional economy.”
