Fiancee Says "Traveling to Thailand with Male Friends Is Not Good"... Fiance Asks "Don't You Trust Me?"

Netizens Buzz Over Breakup Worries Story
Fiancee "Witnessed Korean Man Rushing Into Sex Work Establishment"

A woman shared her concerns after hearing that her fianc?, who is soon to be married, is planning a trip to Pattaya, Thailand with his male friends. On the 5th, a post titled "My fianc? is going to Thailand with his male friends before our wedding" was uploaded on an online community. A, who identified herself as the bride-to-be, said, "This summer, my boyfriend said he is going on a trip to Pattaya, Thailand with three of his friends," adding, "I told him, 'If you're going, then forget about living together and even the marriage.'"

A then explained her reasons for opposing her boyfriend’s trip to Thailand. She said, "Last year, I went on a trip to Thailand with my parents. After passing through Bangkok, our schedule ended in Pattaya. One evening, we went for a walk in the downtown area and I was shocked," adding, "There were no restaurants or cafes on the streets at all; everything was just immoral bars." She recalled, "Scantily clad women were all out on the streets, inviting people in, and male waiters were handing out promotional materials with their genitals openly displayed." She also explained, "The streets were filled with the smell of marijuana, which shocked me, and I remember returning to the hotel with my parents."

A said, "There were many young Korean men too, and seeing them rush into the sex industry establishments with bright faces and no hesitation made me decide that my boyfriend should never be allowed to come here." However, her boyfriend’s reaction was different from what she expected. He said, "I didn’t know our trust was only this much," and added, "I’m not going to do anything weird. Why do you treat me like a promiscuous person? I just want to go once before we get married. Why can’t you let me do this for myself?"

Netizens responded to the post with comments such as, "If four young men are going to Thailand, it’s 100% certain," "Even if he doesn’t go now, he will after marriage," "Canceling the wedding is the wise choice," and "The ancestors are helping you; break off the engagement immediately." On the other hand, some netizens expressed more cautious views, saying, "Listen to your boyfriend’s side too," and "Did you even think about marrying him without that level of trust?"

Earlier last month, a post by a woman named B, who has lived in Thailand for 20 years, was also uploaded on a Naver cafe related to pregnancy, childbirth, and childcare. B wrote, "Husbands, please don’t send your men to Thailand. They hang out with women every night, go to strange massages during the day, and even meet ladyboys," adding, "Men from all walks of life go there ? rural men, businessmen in the city, large company workers, and even men without money who get friends to pay for them."

She continued, "People think, 'My husband won’t do that,' but that’s a misconception. Thailand is not that kind of place. Men enjoy themselves with Thai women at night, and when they go home, they buy gifts for their wives at the supermarket. They shout, 'The king has donkey ears' and leave."
