"Hard to Adapt..." Wife Runs Away Leaving a Note
Husband Reveals Vietnamese Wife's Photo and Real Name
Netizens Debate "Inevitable Misfortune" vs "Stay Strong"
As international marriages increase, so do the number of people complaining about related damages. Amid this, a story of a man searching for his Vietnamese wife who ran away leaving a note has come to light.
On the 8th, a post titled "Incompetent husband looking for runaway Vietnamese wife" was uploaded on an online community. The author, Mr. A, who is currently undergoing an annulment lawsuit, began by saying, "My Vietnamese wife entered the country on May 23, lived together for 13 days, and ran away on June 3. I am looking for her."
According to the note left by Mr. A’s wife before she ran away, Mrs. B apologized, saying, "I’m sorry. I think I would get stressed if I stay at home doing nothing," and expressed her wish to "leave comfortably." She continued, "If possible, I want to leave for two weeks," and added, "I really want to live happily with my husband, but when I first came to Korea, there were many unfamiliar things. I hope Mr. A accepts my decision." She also mentioned that she would contact him through social media and left room for "coming back."
Contrary to her promise to return after two weeks, Mrs. B did not come back even after a month. Mr. A explained, "There has been no contact so far. It has been over a month since she ran away," and added, "My wife has not acquired Korean nationality, and her visa has been canceled." To find his wife, Mr. A shared several photos showing her face. He posted selfies taken together as well as wedding photos where they both appeared.
Mr. A said, "My wife has tattoos on her right shoulder, forearm, and wrist," and added, "She has also blocked my SNS account. I have filed a missing person report and a fraud complaint against her. If found, I want to put her in jail. I ask for any tips," revealing his email address.
Netizens who read the story responded with comments such as, "She seems to have come to Korea with a plan," "Many women in international marriages have run away these days, stay strong," "Vietnamese international marriages really seem problematic," "This might cause distrust in people," "Is it normal to run away before even a month of marriage?" and "She probably brought her local boyfriend to Korea."
On the other hand, some netizens criticized Mr. A, saying, "The end of a loveless marriage," "That’s why you shouldn’t buy a wife," and "It was a mistake to think a loveless marriage would last long."
Meanwhile, fraud damages related to international marriages, especially involving Vietnam, are increasing day by day. On the 3rd, a story shocked many when a Vietnamese wife ran away just six days after marriage. Netizen Mr. B, who revealed his wife’s photo and real name, lamented, "According to witnesses, my wife is working as a hostess at an entertainment establishment," and added, "Her visa expired on January 26, so she is currently an illegal immigrant."
