Chungnam Office of Education to Implement Organizational Restructuring in September: Two Departments Abolished, Three New Departments Established

Abolition of Department of Educational Innovation and Curriculum... Establishment of Elementary Special Education and Secondary Education Departments

The Chungnam Office of Education announced on the 9th that it will implement an organizational restructuring this coming September.

In this restructuring, the Office will abolish the Department of Educational Innovation and the Department of Curriculum, while establishing the Department of Elementary and Special Education and the Department of Secondary Education. Additionally, a new Department of Early Childhood Education and Welfare will be established to promote the integration of early childhood education and care (Yubotonghap).

The Department of Elementary and Special Education will be responsible for elementary education, Neulbom, after-school programs, special education, and lifelong education. The Department of Secondary Education will oversee secondary education, career guidance and college admissions, and international education.

The Department of Early Childhood Education and Welfare will absorb the Yubotonghap Promotion TF Team, previously under the Department of Curriculum, and reorganize it into Yubotonghap Promotion Team 1 and Team 2, thereby strengthening the organizational foundation for the Yubotonghap policy.

To this end, the Office recently announced a partial amendment to the "Regulations on the Establishment of Administrative Organizations of the Chungcheongnam-do Office of Education" for public notice. After gathering opinions and obtaining approval from the Chungnam Office of Education Legal Review Committee, the restructuring is scheduled to take effect on September 1.

Shim Sangyong, Director of Policy Planning, stated, "The restructuring plan was designed with a focus on promoting Yubotonghap and resolving imbalances between departments within the Education Bureau. We maintained and reassigned existing teams to minimize staff increases, and placed emphasis on maintaining organizational stability and enhancing efficiency."
