Seocho-gu, Seoul (Mayor Jeon Seong-su) announced on the 9th that it will open and operate the 'Seocho Senior Lounge,' an open community space freely accessible to the new senior generation, the baby boomer generation in their 60s (born between 1955 and 1964), on the 10th.

The Seocho Senior Lounge is newly opened based on the district office's judgment that the existing senior centers need to be transformed into open and modern community spaces. It was created by remodeling the first floor of the Banpo 2-dong senior center.

This place is equipped with sofas and table seats where visitors can chat over coffee, a space to relieve fatigue and relax using the latest massage chairs, and areas to enjoy digital activities such as education and games using smart TVs, tablet PCs, and smart tables.

Located within Parangsae Park, it offers excellent accessibility and an environment where visitors can heal in nature. It is freely available not only to the new senior generation but also to local residents, serving as a community hub where leisure, rest, and intergenerational exchange and communication take place.

Seocho-gu plans to open a new 'Senior Lounge' in Banpo 3-dong later this year, starting with Banpo 2-dong.

Mayor Jeon Seong-su said, "The opening of the Seocho Senior Lounge is part of efforts to develop the existing senior centers into spaces where more residents can comfortably enjoy themselves," adding, "Seocho-gu will continue to strive to ensure that all residents, including the new senior generation, can enjoy a happy leisure life."
