Guro-gu Prepares 68.7 Billion Won Supplementary Budget This Year... Issues 600 Million Won in Guro Sarang Gift Certificates

Guro-gu (District Mayor Moon Heon-il) announced that it has submitted a supplementary budget proposal worth 68.7 billion KRW to the district council to support small business owners, revitalize the local economy, reinforce disaster prevention infrastructure, and address residents' demands.

This supplementary budget represents a 7% increase compared to the existing budget of 973 billion KRW, and if passed as originally proposed, the total budget for this year will amount to 1.0416 trillion KRW.

Key budget items include 600 million KRW for issuing Guro Love Gift Certificates to stimulate the local economy, 10 million KRW for operating direct transaction markets and managing product origins, 40 million KRW to support improvements in urban manufacturing work environments, and 600 million KRW for job support.

Additionally, 2 billion KRW has been allocated for road maintenance and facility management, 500 million KRW for the maintenance of hazardous facilities within forests, 100 million KRW for maintenance and operation of rainwater pumping stations and river mechanical and electrical facilities, and 500 million KRW for repairing aging facilities in children's parks, focusing on reinforcing disaster prevention infrastructure and ensuring residents' safety against floods and other disasters.

A contingency fund of 1.5 billion KRW has been set aside for disaster and emergency purposes.

Budget allocations for local priority projects also stand out. These include 1.7 billion KRW for expanding public senior centers, 800 million KRW for expanding small-scale youth facilities, and 600 million KRW for undergrounding power distribution lines as part of the Green New Deal, with plans to accelerate project implementation in the second half of this year.

This supplementary budget proposal will be reviewed and finalized at the Guro-gu Council’s extraordinary session held in July.

A Guro-gu official stated, “In a situation where the difficulties of the common people’s economy are intensifying due to high inflation and economic recession, we have allocated expenses focusing on urgent and priority projects to revitalize the local economy and promote key projects. Once the supplementary budget is confirmed, we will do our best to ensure the budget is promptly executed.”
