Seeking Innovative Ideas to Transform the Future of Seoul Subway... 'Open Innovation' Proposal Submissions Begin

‘Seoul Metro-style Open Innovation’ Contest Officially Opens for Applications ... July 8-22, 14 Days
Collaborating with Innovative Technology Companies to Solve Urban Rail Issues That Will Change the Future of Seoul Subway
Submitted Proposals Will Be Reviewed and Notified Individually... Selected Projects Will Be Implemented Through Performance Sharing and Testbed Methods

Seoul Metro Corporation (President Baek Ho) announced that it will begin accepting proposals for open innovation from July 8 to find various innovative ideas to solve urban railway issues.

In June, prior to the official call for proposals, the corporation conducted a recruitment announcement to inform participating companies about the purpose of open innovation and how to participate.

The "Seoul Metro Corporation-style Open Innovation" is a newly introduced project aimed at preparing for the future of urban railways and accelerating management innovation through open collaboration with companies possessing innovative and creative technologies.

The proposal methods are divided into public needs and private proposals. The public needs type reflects the requirements of the corporation's recruitment fields and is proposed by participating companies, while the private demands type allows companies to freely propose ideas in areas such as safety, service, and maintenance.

Submitted proposals will undergo internal review, and final projects will be selected and notified individually. Selected projects will be promoted through a performance-sharing system or testbed (demonstration) method to address Seoul subway issues and improve citizen satisfaction.

Companies wishing to participate in the "Seoul Metro Corporation-style Open Innovation" project can submit their application forms via the open innovation email on the corporation’s website from July 8 to July 22.

Baek Ho, President of Seoul Metro Corporation, said, "This contest is expected to integrate innovative ideas from companies in various fields into the current issues of the Seoul subway, envisioning an innovative future for Seoul’s subway system." He added, "With an expanded scale and various supports compared to the existing performance-sharing system, we hope many companies will participate and that this will be an opportunity for both the corporation and participating companies to grow together."
