Yeongdeungpo-gu, Green Remodeling of 3 Aging Public Daycare Centers

Yeongdeungpo-gu (District Mayor Choi Ho-kwon) announced that it will carry out a 'Green Remodeling Project' targeting aging district-run daycare centers to create a pleasant childcare environment.

'Green Remodeling' is a project led by the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport that provides funding for aging public buildings (daycare centers, health centers, medical institutions, senior centers) over 10 years old to improve energy performance and reduce greenhouse gas emissions through eco-friendly remodeling.

Through this Green Remodeling public contest project, three district-run daycare centers in the area?Yeongsam Daycare Center, Haesol Daycare Center, and Haetae Daycare Center?have been selected. The district plans to invest a total budget of 670 million KRW, including district funds, to improve the buildings.

The district will carry out energy efficiency improvement works at the three daycare centers, including ▲ insulation for interior and exterior walls ▲ high-performance windows ▲ high-efficiency heating and cooling systems ▲ heat recovery ventilation systems ▲ solar panel installation, aiming for completion in November.

In particular, the district will thoroughly check the necessary interior and exterior improvements for each daycare center through on-site surveys, collect requests and complaints related to environmental improvements, and make every effort to create a pleasant and safe childcare environment.

Previously, since 2021, the district completed the Green Remodeling project for three district-run daycare centers through a public contest and plans to continue efforts to ensure district-run daycare centers receive various benefits.

Choi Ho-kwon, Mayor of Yeongdeungpo-gu, stated, “Improving energy efficiency through this project will reduce management costs and greatly improve the childcare environment. We will minimize inconvenience to children and parents during the project period and continue to do our best to ensure infants and young children grow up in a pleasant and safe environment.”
