According to the police on the 8th, the Namdaemun Police Station in Seoul is investigating a total of two cases related to mocking posts at memorial sites. Since the investigation began on the 4th before formal charges, one suspect has surrendered, and on the 5th, another suspect was identified and questioned.
The Cyber Investigation Unit of the Seoul Metropolitan Police Agency has initiated an investigation into five insulting posts online.
Earlier, the police warned that indiscriminate distribution of mocking, insulting, and defamatory posts online could be punishable under criminal law for insult and defamation of the deceased, as well as defamation under the Information and Communications Network Act.
