Hanwha Co., Ltd. and KT Sign 5G-Based Smart Mining Agreement for "Global Expansion"

Enhancing Mining Operation Efficiency and Safety

Hanwha Co., Ltd. Global Division and KT announced on the 8th that they have signed a strategic business agreement (MOU) for 5G·LTE communication-based Smart Mining and will cooperate mutually.


This MOU was promoted to actively cooperate between the two companies to expand the Smart Mining business and services that enhance safety and production efficiency at mining and construction sites.


Smart Mining refers to utilizing new technologies that make mining operations such as drilling, blasting, and transportation safer and more efficient. These technologies maximize overall mining process efficiency and enhance worker safety through automation, real-time monitoring, data analysis, and artificial intelligence (AI). It also enables cost reduction and environmental protection.


According to the MOU, Hanwha Co., Ltd. Global Division and KT will jointly engage in ▲ strategic alliances and promotion to expand the Smart Mining global market ▲ sharing cases of smart blasting technology and mine safety solutions ▲ support for platform integration such as remote blasting functions ▲ support for KT specialized services such as communication networks and Internet of Things (IoT). The two companies plan to promote digital transformation and global market expansion to maximize synergy effects.

Park Yoon-seok, Head of IS Business Division at Hanwha Co., Ltd. Global Division, said, "The signing of this MOU is expected to be a great opportunity to strengthen the cooperative relationship with KT and enhance competitiveness in the global market," adding, "We will combine the core competencies of both companies to create more innovative business models."


Seong Je-hyun, Head of Gangbuk·Gangwon Corporate Customer Headquarters at KT, said, "We are pleased to open a new chapter for global business expansion through a strategic partnership with Hanwha," and added, "We will continue to do our best for sustainable growth together with Hanwha."
