Gurye County Council, Jang Gil-seon Inaugurated as Chairperson of the 9th Term Second Half

The Gurye County Council in Jeollanam-do (Chairman Jang Gil-seon) announced on the morning of the 8th that it held the inauguration and retirement ceremony for the 9th council’s first and second half chairmanship at the council’s main chamber, with Chairman Yoo Si-mun stepping down and Chairman Jang Gil-seon taking office for the second half.

About 50 people attended the ceremony, including County Governor Kim Soon-ho, executive branch senior officials, officers of the Gurye County Council Alumni Association, and heads of the 8 townships and villages.

The ceremony proceeded in the order of presenting a plaque of appreciation to former Chairman Yoo Si-mun, his retirement speech, the inauguration speech, and congratulatory remarks from the Gurye County Governor.

In his retirement speech, former Chairman Yoo Si-mun said, “Although the past four years were challenging due to COVID-19 and the Seomjin River flood damage, I am grateful to the residents and fellow council members who cooperated to enable successful council activities,” and expressed his resolve, “I will continue to work alongside the residents as a council member.”

Chairman Jang Gil-seon said in his inauguration speech, “I feel a heavy sense of responsibility in taking on the important role of chairman,” and added, “During the given two years, I will practice the belief of ‘Geunja-yeol Wonjarae’?making those close to me happy and attracting those far away.”

Meanwhile, the Gurye County Council unanimously elected Chairman Jang Gil-seon and Vice Chairman Moon Seung-ok in the second half chairmanship election at the 309th extraordinary session on June 28, and paid respects at the memorial tower in Gurye Hyeonchung Park on July 1.
