Technology to Enhance Worker and Site Safety
Patent Applications for Exterior Wall Dismantling and Elevator Shaft Protection Systems
HDC Hyundai Development Company has filed a patent for ultra-high-rise building demolition technology.
On the 8th, HDC Hyundai Development announced that it completed the patent application last month for an exterior wall demolition system, exterior wall demolition method, and elevator shaft and elevator protection system.
HDC Hyundai Development is developing and refining demolition technology while conducting the first ultra-high-rise building demolition project in urban areas in Korea. The patent application was completed to secure rights for practical experience and demolition know-how.
The exterior wall demolition system and exterior wall demolition method are technologies that prevent the detachment of exterior walls when demolishing ultra-high-rise buildings. This technology cuts the exterior walls and settles them inward to avoid damage to adjacent buildings during demolition in densely built urban areas.
The technology was developed to prevent damage caused by detached exterior walls falling outside the building and to ensure the safety of workers and surrounding buildings by performing cutting work with an automatic horizontal cutting device without workers.
The elevator shaft and elevator protection system is a technology that protects the elevator shaft (elevator hall) and elevator (hoist car) inside the building from demolition debris during demolition work. During demolition, debris falls to the ground floor through the elevator shaft at the center of the building. This technology was developed to protect the inner walls and elevators from impacts caused by debris hitting the elevator shaft walls during the fall.
The patents filed this time focus on ensuring the safety of workers and adjacent buildings during ultra-high-rise building demolition, mitigating demolition impacts, and enhancing the stability of the remaining parts of the building. Once the patents are finally registered, HDC Hyundai Development will secure rights to strengthen its capabilities and technology for demolishing ultra-high-rise buildings in urban areas.
An HDC Hyundai Development official said, "We filed the patent to secure rights for the experience and know-how of the first ultra-high-rise building demolition project in Korea," adding, "This technology will help ensure the safety of workers at urban demolition sites and the surrounding area."
