Lee Sangmin, head of the Daejeon City Party Committee of the People Power Party, stated on the 8th regarding the disruption of the city council's second-half chairperson election, "I apologize to the citizens of Daejeon who have supported our party."


On this day, Lee held a meeting with People Power Party city council members at the city council's communication office to discuss the formation of the council's leadership. He urged, "I hope you will consult and resolve the matter in accordance with common sense and principles, and work for legislative activities that benefit the citizens of Daejeon."


He added, "In order for the Daejeon City Party of the People Power Party to regain the support and love of the citizens in the local elections two years from now, we must take the lead in promoting the party's platform and policies and in the party membership expansion campaign," emphasizing the need for active participation from the city council members.


Meanwhile, the Daejeon City Council will register candidates until the 8th and hold the 2nd plenary session of the 280th extraordinary session on the 10th to proceed with the third election for the second-half leadership. Previously, on the 3rd, during the plenary session of the 280th extraordinary session, a second vote was held for council member Kim Seongwang (People Power Party, Jung-gu 2), who was the sole candidate, but as in the first vote, there were 11 votes in favor and 11 invalid votes, failing to secure a majority.
