Gyeongnam Region's First Official Water Sports Event
Proving Its Status as a Water Sports Hub City
Hapcheon County, Gyeongnam Province, announced that the 'Beautiful Hapcheon Korea Water Ski & Wake Sports Competition,' held over four days from the 4th to the 7th, was successfully concluded.
This event, hosted by Hapcheon County and organized by the Korea Water Ski & Wake Sports Association and the Hapcheon County Sports Council, attracted more than 400 professional athletes and officials in water skiing, wakeboarding, and surfing from across the country. Competitions were held in wakeboard, wakesurf, and slalom categories.
This competition drew even greater attention as the first official water sports event held in the Gyeongnam region, making full use of Hapcheon County's outstanding natural scenery and the water resources of Hapcheon Dam for a nationwide water sports event.
The opening ceremony on the 6th featured an exhilarating and refreshing flying board performance and a show by vocal influencer Nagyo, creating a festive water leisure atmosphere for both local residents and tourists. More than 1,000 people, including spectators and tourists as well as athletes and officials, filled Daebyeong-myeon, turning the area around Full Heaven Water Park into a lively night scene.
Kim Yuncheol, Mayor of Hapcheon County, stated, "This competition, hosted by Hapcheon County and organized by the Korea Water Ski & Wake Sports Association and the Hapcheon County Sports Council, holds the title of being the first in the Gyeongnam region. We will develop it into a continuous event, not a one-off, and make Hapcheon County one of the leading cities for water leisure sports nationwide."
Meanwhile, Daebyeong-myeon and Bongsan-myeon, which were selected as the competition venues, are famous local attractions known for their beautiful natural scenery. Full Heaven Water Park in Daebyeong and Bongsan Water Leisure Park, chosen as the competition sites, are among the top facilities for water sports competitions in the country.
