Jinju City in Gyeongnam announced on the 8th that the number of visitors to "Wolasan Supsokui Jinju" has surpassed a cumulative total of 1 million visitors, just 6 years and 3 months after its opening.
Despite the heatwave and monsoon season, the city prepared a special event to celebrate reaching 1 million cumulative visitors as a way to thank the many citizens who visited. On this day, a congratulatory event was held for the one-millionth visitor.
The one-millionth visitor was Park Hyunsu (39), a resident of Geumsan-myeon, Jinju City, who visited Wolasan Supsokui Jinju with his family at 4:32 p.m. on the 6th. All staff members working at Wolasan Supsokui Jinju welcomed Park Hyunsu and his family, presenting them with a flower basket, a one-night accommodation voucher for a forest house at Wolasan Natural Recreation Forest, and a voucher for a forest leisure sports experience.
On this day, Park Hyunsu said, "I usually visit this place from time to time, but since it was the weekend, I came for a walk with my family. I am truly honored to be the one-millionth visitor. I am especially happy to receive the accommodation voucher for Wolasan Natural Recreation Forest, which is said to be even harder to get these days than tickets to the famous Lim Youngwoong concert."
Wolasan Supsokui Jinju began full operation in 2018, starting with Wolasan Woodland. By 2023, a total of 782,956 people had visited, and as of July 6 this year, 217,157 people have already visited.
Wolasan Supsokui Jinju is a popular destination for families, and with the recent hosting of the "3rd Hydrangea Festival" and the "2nd Garden Expo," the number of visitors has increased significantly. From autumn, when the heat subsides, it is expected that even more citizens tired from daily life will visit as Jinju's representative tourist attraction for relaxation.
A city official said, "In addition to the congratulatory event for the one-millionth visitor to Wolasan Supsokui Jinju, we are also preparing a commemorative SNS event for reaching 1 million cumulative visitors," adding, "We look forward to many people participating in the commemorative event for 1 million cumulative visitors to Wolasan Supsokui Jinju by checking Instagram and our website."
