From July, 10% Co-payment for Fluoride Varnish and Others for 1st and 4th Grade Elementary Students
Daejeon City announced that it will launch the 2nd pilot project for the Children's Dental Primary Care Health Insurance starting in July.
The support targets children in 1st and 4th grades of elementary school this year, and plans to expand to 1st, 2nd, 4th, and 5th grades in 2025, and to all elementary school grades in 2026.
The fee for one consultation is 45,730 KRW, with the child’s out-of-pocket rate at 10%, and the remaining 90% covered by the National Health Insurance Service.
Participating children visit the dental clinic registered as their primary care dentist each semester to receive oral care services such as oral hygiene examinations, tooth brushing education, and fluoride application.
Children (or their legal guardians) who wish to participate can check available dental clinics through the National Health Insurance Service website or The Health Insurance mobile app, and apply for registration with the selected primary care dentist to use the services even on the day of the visit.
Son Cheol-woong, Director of the Sports and Health Bureau of Daejeon City, said, “We hope that more children in Daejeon will benefit from proper oral care through the Children's Dental Primary Care pilot project,” and added, “We ask for the interest and participation of parents and dental clinics for the oral health of children.”
