A Thief Who Only Took Peaches from the Fruit Box
The Heavy Watermelon Was Left Behind... "Such Audacity"
An absurd story has been reported where a fruit box left outside for a short time had all the fruit inside mysteriously disappear. Even more baffling, the thief took only the relatively light peaches, leaving the heavy watermelons untouched.
On the 4th, a post titled "What kind of theft is this?" was uploaded to an online community. The author, Mr. A, who introduced himself as a self-employed fruit shop owner, began by saying, "After receiving a delivery order, I was closing the shop and preparing to leave for the delivery."
Mr. A explained, "I left two watermelons and a box of yellow peaches (Hwangdo) in front of the shop and went to get the car to load the fruit. But when I returned to the shop front, only the packaging remained inside the fruit box. All the yellow peaches were gone."
In the photos Mr. A shared, the box that should have contained eight yellow peaches is completely empty. It seems the thief didn’t want the packaging, as the yellow wrapping paper was all removed, and the transparent plastic case that protected the peaches was scattered around.
Mr. A said, "They took only the yellow peaches and left the watermelons. I guess the watermelons were too heavy to carry." He added, "Since it was a delivery order, I had no choice but to quickly find other products and report it to the police." He continued, "I run a business in a decent neighborhood, and this is the first time something like this has happened. I feel dizzy and nauseous. They took only the yellow peaches because there was nothing else to steal. There’s CCTV here, but they were quite bold."
Netizens who read the story responded with comments such as, "The thief must have been in a hurry," "Even thieves can’t resist peaches," "The peach smell must have been so good," "There are so many shameless people," "In the past, it didn’t matter if you left things outside except for bicycles, but public awareness is changing," "They probably left the watermelon because they had to carry a lot of peaches," and "Maybe they thought it was trash and took it."
