Pilot Launch from the 8th, Full Operation Starting in August
Busan City will launch a pilot service of the 'Busan-Type Integrated Data Platform Phase 1 Service' starting from the 8th, aiming to lead data-driven administration and establish a foundation for the local data industry. The full-scale implementation will begin in August.
The scene of the Busan-type Data Integration Platform (completed and initiated) reporting meeting held on the 5th.
This project, which began in August last year, is focused on securing high-quality data and enhancing data utilization. The goal is to realize scientific, data-driven municipal administration and expand the local data industry ecosystem, thereby positioning Busan as a leading digital economic city.
The main components include: ▲Infrastructure setup (utilizing private cloud) ▲Establishment of an integrated data portal ▲Development of data repository and collection system ▲Construction of a data sharing, analysis, and utilization platform ▲Establishment of data governance (standards, quality, metadata, and lineage management) ▲Development of two analytical demonstration projects.
This project consolidates and unifies existing operational systems, building a foundation for data sharing and utilization that enhances data accessibility and usability. Data collected from individual systems is managed through a safe zone repository, data governance, and raw data repository, and is provided through an integrated portal.
The platform offers a personalized analysis environment that enables easy analysis, supporting free data analysis and visualization using both collected and in-house data.
A user-centered interface has been developed to enhance user convenience and data usability, and intelligent search and natural language-based integrated search functions have been implemented.
To verify the effectiveness of business improvement, solving social issues, and data-driven policy making, analytical tasks were selected based on feedback from field departments. Two demonstration projects have been developed and are being serviced: analysis of citizen interest based on media data, and monitoring of seafood distribution based on big data.
Additionally, the Busan Statistics service has been renewed to provide statistical indicators using automatically collected, up-to-date Statistics Korea API data, and to offer various types of charts and dashboards in real time.
Furthermore, from the 8th until 6 p.m. on July 19th, the city will hold an event to collect suggestions for naming the data platform that will represent Busan, as well as gather feedback for improvement.
The platform's name will be selected, and through error detection events and various feedback collection, the system will be stabilized and user convenience will be enhanced.
Participation is available on the city's website under Citizen Participation - Surveys.
As a follow-up project, the city will conduct a comprehensive survey of data from the city, related organizations, and districts, identify data collection targets, and discover datasets, which will be serviced through the portal in the second half of this year. Additional data discovery will continue through Phase 2 of the project.
Data that can be collected, whether open or partially open, will be discovered and, after quality management such as standardization, will be made available through the portal within this year.
Phase 2 will include the establishment of a data exchange, an integrated data map, and three analytical demonstration services. After a pilot operation in the first half of 2025, full-scale service will begin in July.
Construction of Integrated Data Map (providing data status information by data classification, region, keyword, and field).
Mayor Park Hyungjun stated, "Through this project, we have established a foundation for integrating scattered data collection systems and improving data utilization. Moving forward, we will foster a virtuous data ecosystem where users themselves generate and share data, rather than relying solely on suppliers, and will continue to develop policies to vitalize and advance the local data industry."
On the 5th at 2 p.m., the city held a 'Busan-Type Integrated Data Platform Completion and Launch Briefing Session' at the City Hall International Conference Room, attended by advisory committee members, the working-level task force (TF), the public-private data sharing and utilization council, and project implementers.
