An underground passage connecting Express Bus Terminal Station to Banpo Hangang Park will be transformed into an 'Art Gallery' combining art and cultural tourism.

Seocho-gu, Seoul (Mayor Jeon Seong-su) announced on the 7th that they invited world-renowned graffiti artist Eduardo Luque (stage name LaRon) to create a ‘Picasso Mural’ in the underground public walkway connecting Express Bus Terminal Station (Exit G2) to Banpo Hangang Park. The mural reflects Picasso’s unique artistic world with vibrant and sophisticated colors and dynamic expression techniques.

This achievement was made in collaboration with the Spain Tourism Board and Malaga Tourism Board. The Spain Tourism Board selects one country annually from the top visiting countries by continent to promote a cultural exchange tourism program, which includes a graffiti-style ‘Picasso City Art Mural Project.’ Following Shanghai, China in 2021, Bern, Switzerland in 2022, and Munich, Germany in 2023, Seocho-gu was selected this year. The ‘Picasso Mural’ is expected to become a new landmark in Seocho-gu, offering richer visual experiences to visitors of the Hangang River.

Additionally, the district, together with the Seocho Cultural Foundation, will hold a public art exhibition titled ‘Rhythm of Geometry’ by artist VAKKI, known for intricate geometric patterns and rhythms, from July 15 to August 19 in the underground public space at Express Bus Terminal Station (Exit G2). The exhibition features creative installation art in an open space, transforming everyday areas into an artistic gallery to provide visual enjoyment for tourists.

Along the 360-meter wall inside the public walkway, murals titled ‘24 Hours in Seoul’ painted by 24 famous domestic and international artists reinterpret the daily lives of Seoul citizens, capturing the attention of passersby.

With these public art pieces displayed consecutively in the underground passage connecting Express Bus Terminal Station (Exit G2) to Banpo Hangang Park, an art gallery approximately 500 meters long?the longest in the country?will be established.

Alongside the creation of the art gallery, Seocho-gu will open the ‘Goter·Sebit Tourist Information Center’ on the 9th. The district plans to accelerate the designation of the area from the Express Bus Terminal to Banpo Hangang Park as the ‘Goter·Sebit Tourism Special Zone’.

Mayor Jeon Seong-su stated, “We will continuously promote diverse cultural and artistic projects to make Seocho a world-class tourist city where art and culture harmonize, providing visitors with inspiration and happiness.”
