Exhibition of 58 Masterpieces from the Collection of Late Chairman Lee Kunhee and Others, Including 9 National Treasures and Treasures
Busan Museum of Art has announced that the special exhibition "Collector Jeon: The Joy of Collecting, The Delight of Empathy," which is currently being held to great acclaim, will be extended until July 21.
"Collector Jeon: The Joy of Collecting, The Delight of Empathy" is an exhibition designed to highlight the passion for collecting Korean cultural heritage and the spirit of social contribution demonstrated by leading Korean entrepreneurs, such as the late Lee Byung-chul and Lee Kun-hee, who either grew their businesses based in Busan or made significant contributions to the economic and cultural development of the city.
Since its opening on April 26, the museum has attracted approximately 67,000 visitors as of July 4, marking its highest attendance record ever. In response, Busan Museum of Art has decided to extend the exhibition by two weeks during the summer vacation period to allow more citizens to enjoy the special exhibition.
Regarding the decision to extend the exhibition, Busan Museum of Art stated, "With art lovers and general visitors from across the country flocking to the exhibition every day, and with prominent figures from various fields continuously requesting an extension so that more citizens can experience the beauty of our cultural heritage, we were able to secure active cooperation from the lending institutions, resulting in a two-week extension."
Many distinguished figures from the fields of administration, politics, economics, and academia who visited the exhibition?including Mayor Park Hyungjoon, National Assembly member Park Sooyoung (Nam-gu), Yang Jaesaeng, Chairman of the Busan Chamber of Commerce and Industry, Yoo Hongjoon, former Administrator of the Cultural Heritage Administration, and Yoon Yongyi, former professor at Myongji University?praised the exhibition, stating in unison that it was a unique experience that allowed them to appreciate the beauty and originality of Korean antiques and to be moved by the passion for collecting and the spirit of giving back to society shown by Korea’s leading collectors.
Visitors can view 58 treasured items (including 9 National Treasures and Treasures) cherished by Korean antique collectors such as the late Lee Kun-hee, former chairman of Samsung Group, at the Busan Museum of Art’s special exhibition hall until July 21.
This special exhibition features 58 carefully selected masterpieces of Korean antiques that have been collected over many years by leading Korean entrepreneurs and collectors, including the late Lee Byung-chul and Lee Kun-hee (Samsung), the late Suh Sungwhan and Suh Kyungbae (Amorepacific), the late Hyun Sookmyung and Hyun Seunghoon (Hwaseung), and Shin Sungsoo (Nulwon Cultural Foundation).

The exhibits include ▲ "Celadon Maebyeong with Incised Lotus Design and Lid" (National Treasure) ▲ "Buncheong Ware Burial Set with Inscription from the 13th Year of Jeongtong" ▲ "Three Friends in Harmony" by Kim Hongdo ▲ "Flowers and Birds with Puppies" by Lee Am ▲ "Family Gathering Painting of the Yaean Kim Clan" ▲ "Portrait of Park Moonsu" ▲ "White Porcelain Moon Jar" (all Treasures), as well as ▲ "Sapsal Dog" by Kim Duryang ▲ "Landscape and Figures" by Kim Hongdo ▲ "White Porcelain Jar with Iron-Painted Dragon Design" (all Busan City Tangible Cultural Assets), among many other distinguished antique artworks representing Korean art.
