Korea's Largest Advertising Contest... Daegu Catholic University Wins Encouragement Award at University Student Advertising Competition Daegu Catholic University student team awarded the Encouragement Prize at the 2024 Korea University Student Advertising Competition.

The Korea Student Advertising Competition, hosted by the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism and organized by the Korea Advertising Federation, is the largest advertising contest in Korea with a history of about 20 years, supported by leading domestic and international advertising agencies and academic societies related to advertising.

This year's competition saw a record scale, with 5,924 students and 437 supervising professors from 154 universities nationwide submitting 1,546 works. Among them, 16 teams from across the country advanced to the national finals, which were held on June 28.

The team Kkokkio Trio, consisting of students Park Seoyeon and Lee Yeonwoo from the Advertising and Public Relations major and Kim Yebon from the Media and Video major at Daegu Catholic University, received the Encouragement Award for their campaign proposal to promote early education for drug prevention.

According to the Korea Advertising Federation, Kkokkio Trio was recorded as the youngest team in this year's competition, being the only team composed entirely of second-year students.

Professor Min Byungwoon of the Department of Media, Video, Advertising, and Public Relations at Daegu Catholic University said, "Most of the teams in the national finals are made up of third- and fourth-year students with multiple experiences in the competition, so it is a remarkable achievement for a team of only second-year students to make it to the national finals and win an award for the first time. As our university students have great capabilities, I will strive to guide them well so that even better results can be achieved in the future."
