On the 6th (local time), according to Ukraine's public broadcaster Suspilne and foreign media, Russian forces struck energy facilities in the Sumy region of northeastern Ukraine using drones the previous night.

Ukraine's air defense units reported shooting down 24 out of 27 drones launched by Russia. Some of these drones fell near Sumy, damaging power grid-related facilities. Ukraine's state power company Ukrenergo has cut off power supply to consumers in the Sumy region while carrying out restoration work on the facilities.

Since March of this year, Russia has conducted multiple airstrikes on Ukraine's power facilities. On the 22nd of last month, energy facilities in the southeastern Zaporizhzhia region and the western Lviv region were attacked, causing disruptions in power supply.

Ukraine's Ministry of Energy has stated that due to Russia's attacks, the country's power system has lost about half of its available generation capacity. Ukrenergo is compensating for the power shortage through power imports and planned outages.
