Various Programs and Space Rentals... Cultural Demand Expected to Be Met
Gumi City in North Gyeongsang Province held the opening ceremony for the 'Gumi Life Culture Center' on the 5th and has officially begun its operations.
The opening ceremony was attended by Mayor Kim Jangho, City Council Chairman Park Gyosang, provincial and city council members, cultural and arts organizations, and about 100 citizens. The event proceeded with a pre-ceremony performance, progress report, commemorative speech, congratulatory remarks, and a facility tour.
The Gumi Life Culture Center is located across from the main gate of Gumi Elementary School in Wonpyeong-dong. A total project cost of 7.8 billion KRW was invested, and the center was built on a site area of 1,091 square meters, with a total floor area of 1,291.83 square meters, consisting of one basement level and three above-ground floors.
The first floor features a meeting space (rest area), management office, and outdoor public restroom. The second floor includes soundproof practice rooms (for drums and electric piano), an art workshop (for crafts and art activities), a club practice room (with a full-length mirror), and a multipurpose hall (for exhibitions, lectures, etc.). The third floor houses a small library and an outdoor relaxation area.
The Life Culture Center operates a variety of cultural programs and a small library, and provides spaces specialized for club activities. It is expected to satisfy citizens' everyday cultural needs and contribute to enhancing cultural sensitivity among citizens by revitalizing the community of lifestyle culture clubs.
Mayor Kim Jangho stated, "Along with the Gumi Ramen Festival and Romantic Night Market, the Gumi Life Culture Center will bring a new wave of culture to the old downtown area of Wonpyeong-dong. We will provide full support so that the center can support citizens' hobbies and cultural activities, take root in daily life, and establish itself as a hub for lifestyle culture activities."
Prior to the official opening, the Gumi Life Culture Center conducted a three-week trial operation from May 13 to May 31 to assess citizen satisfaction and suggestions, and to address any shortcomings.
Since May 27, the center has been running planned programs such as illustration and a cappella, and it plans to continue operating a variety of programs by actively reflecting citizens' opinions.
The Gumi Life Culture Center is open to Gumi citizens, people who work or study at companies or schools located in Gumi, and members of lifestyle culture clubs based in Gumi. For more information, please refer to the website or contact by phone.
