"No Leniency"…Waterbomb Goddess Who Sued Over Malicious Posts Issues a Strong Warning

"Report Crime Activities and Others via Official Email Account"

Singer Kwon Eun-bi’s side has submitted the first complaint regarding malicious posts including sexual harassment. Kwon Eun-bi gained the title of ‘Waterbomb Goddess’ after becoming a hot topic at ‘Waterbomb Seoul 2023’ last year.


Her agency, Woollim Entertainment, stated in an official position on the 5th, "We have collected numerous malicious posts involving indiscriminate defamation, insults, sexual harassment, spreading false information, and malicious slander against Kwon Eun-bi, as well as crimes committed by those who synthesized the artist’s portrait to distribute fictitious obscene photos, and have submitted the first complaint. The police investigation is currently underway."

They continued, "Such acts are clear criminal offenses, and based on the collected evidence, we will take strong criminal legal actions without leniency in cases corresponding to defamation under the Information and Communications Network Act and insult under the Criminal Act."


Furthermore, they said, "We will continue to actively collect evidence and conduct self-monitoring of malicious posts to do our best to protect the artist. Therefore, we ask fans to report any malicious posts or clear criminal acts to the official email account."


Last August, Kwon Eun-bi also expressed distress over sexual harassment posts and malicious comments and announced legal action. Kwon Eun-bi became known after participating in Mnet’s audition program ‘Produce 48’ in 2018. She was the leader of the project group IZ*ONE until 2021. After IZ*ONE disbanded, she has been active as a solo artist.


Meanwhile, recently, celebrities have announced uncompromising legal responses to malicious comments including sexual harassment. Seo Eve (11), who sparked the ‘Malatang Hulu’ challenge syndrome, suffered from malicious comments and filed a complaint. Her agency, Soon ENT, announced on the 1st, "The indiscriminate malicious posts against Seo Eve have reached a very serious level. Therefore, on June 21, we filed complaints against the malicious commenters for violating the Child and Youth Sexual Protection Act and defamation."


Last month, the group Ailead expressed regret over the excessive malicious comment attacks and informed about the progress of their complaint. Ailead’s agency, Belief Lab, stated through the fan community Weverse, "We have taken legal action against the authors of malicious posts involving defamation, insults, sexual harassment, false information, and malicious slander against Ailead."
