The Gyeongbuk Lifelong Education Leaders Association, established in January 2010 as the nation's first village-centered private lifelong education organization, currently consists of 22 city and county associations with about 3,000 members.
The association is promoting various lifelong education projects such as the Lifelong Education Conference, Senior Abacus Competition, and leadership capacity-building workshops. In particular, it plans to take the lead in bridging the educational gap in underserved areas in the future.
Mayor Lee Kangdeok said, "I am very pleased that the Gyeongbuk Lifelong Education Leaders Association Lifelong Education Conference is being held in Pohang," and added, "I hope that sharing outstanding lifelong education cases from Pohang and other regions will lead to mutual growth and development among the cities and counties in the province."
