Youth Competition Festival and Choir Festival until the 12th
The Namhaean Southern Central Region Development Council (Chairman Kim Cheol-woo, Boseong County Governor, hereinafter referred to as the ‘Southern Central Council’) announced that it will hold the ‘7th Namhaean Southern Central Region Culture and Arts Festival’ for three days from the 10th to the 12th of this month at the Hadong County Culture and Arts Center.
The Culture and Arts Festival, which began in 2018, serves as a cultural exchange platform centered on private art organizations, contributing to the creation of a culture that harmonizes Yeongnam and Honam regions, and is held alternately each year between the Gyeongsang and Jeolla regions.
Marking its 7th year, this year’s festival is hosted by Hadong County and the Hadong branch of the Korea Federation of Arts and Culture Organizations (Chairman Son Jong-in), and is expected to be an opportunity to share the artistic world of local artists through an exhibition of about 180 works (including Korean painting, Western painting, calligraphy, photography, etc.) by cultural artists from 9 cities and counties belonging to the Southern Central Council.
In particular, this year’s festival will not only feature an exhibition of works but also include a youth competition festival and a choir festival where local youths can showcase their talents during the event period, providing various attractions to tourists and citizens enjoying the vacation season and drawing attention for widely promoting the value and significance of the Namhaean Southern Central Region.
On July 10th (Wednesday) at 2 p.m., the Culture and Arts Festival commemorative ceremony will be held at the Hadong County Culture and Arts Center, where heads of organizations from the 9 cities and counties of the Namhaean Southern Central Region and local artists will attend to present the vision of a Namhaean Southern Central Region united through art. A performance by the Hadong County Art Troupe, celebrating the start of the festival and wishing for its successful hosting, is also prepared.
Chairman Kim Cheol-woo stated in his commemorative speech, “Through this event, we hope to create a new culture unique to the Namhaean Southern Central Region and further extend various exchanges and cooperation into economic and industrial fields,” promising to strive for the coexistence of Yeongnam and Honam and the advancement of progressive culture and arts.
The Southern Central Council is a metropolitan administrative council consisting of 9 cities and counties in the core area of the Yeongnam and Honam Namhaean coast, including Yeosu City, Suncheon City, Gwangyang City, Goheung County, Boseong County in Jeollanam-do, and Jinju City, Sacheon City, Namhae County, and Hadong County in Gyeongsangnam-do.
