"No Search Ads"... Gmarket Recommends Products Reflecting Sales Popularity

New 'Top 10 Bestsellers' Section Added in Search
Easier Price Comparison by Grouping Same Product Categories

Gmarket announced on the 7th that it has launched a popular product search service and improved it so that various products can be searched by grouping identical products using artificial intelligence (AI) technology.

The newly established catalog-style product search service, 'Top 10 Best Sellers,' is a ranking area that reflects pure sales popularity such as recent customer reviews, ratings, and sales volume. Artificial ranking interventions such as advertisements are not possible, and products are exposed based solely on sales popularity. The ranking reflects sales records from the past month, and the results are updated daily.

Searching for the lowest-priced products also becomes easier. Products displayed in the Top 10 Best Sellers are the lowest-priced products within Gmarket, and among identical products, the AI-based lowest price algorithm exposes the cheapest product currently available for customers as the main item. Since identical products are grouped together, price comparison is possible with a single click.

The content is differentiated according to the importance of information consumers consider when purchasing products by category. For electronics, digital devices, and computers, additional information such as screen size, panel, and resolution is provided, while for food products, information such as bundle type and price per unit is guided. Categories like electronics, digital devices, computers, and daily necessities, where searches tend to focus on specific brands, offer a 'brand filter.'

All displayed product prices are based on the discounted coupon price. Since the price applies the maximum discount coupon available to each customer, there is no need to apply coupons individually for comparison. Using filters, customers can also check prices including shipping fees.

Gmarket has initially applied the Top 10 Best Sellers to the computer, digital, electronics, processed food, and daily necessities categories, and plans to expand the product groups to cosmetics and living products in the second half of this year. Among platforms, it was first applied to the mobile app and web, with PC service scheduled to open additionally in the second half of the year.

Lee Kwangsoo, head of Gmarket's Search Planning team, said, "Given the nature of open markets where a large number of identical products are sold, the most advanced search function that closely matches the search results customers want is a very important factor," adding, "We are developing various technologies to strengthen price competitiveness and expand selection, and plan to introduce groundbreaking services one after another in the second half of this year."
