On the 5th, the Ansan Danwon Police Station in Gyeonggi announced that the suspect, identified as A, who was booked on charges of attempted murder, died around 5 p.m. on the 4th while receiving treatment at Ajou University Hospital. Earlier, A was accused of stabbing his classmate B multiple times with a pre-prepared weapon in the restroom of an academy located in Danwon-gu, Ansan City, around 3:40 p.m. on the 1st, attempting to kill her.

A and B are known to be neighbors living in the same neighborhood. Both attended the same school, and although they were not in the same class at school, they took classes together in the same class at the academy, so they were acquainted. However, since they were not on friendly terms, the exact reason why B became the victim is unclear.

B was transported to the hospital conscious and is currently receiving treatment. She reportedly sustained injuries to her face, hands, arms, and chest. Immediately after the crime, A left the academy building, headed to a nearby apartment, and then harmed himself. Police, who responded to the academy's report, found A unconscious in the apartment and took him to the hospital.

After the incident, A remained in a brain-dead state and was treated at the hospital. However, on the 5th, he ultimately passed away. The police stated that they will continue investigating the motive behind the crime even after A’s death. However, since A, the suspect, has died, the case is likely to be closed with a 'no prosecution' disposition once the investigation concludes. The police said, "There is no clear link between the suspect and the victim regarding the motive for the crime," and added, "We plan to continue the investigation."
