Yeongyang County in North Gyeongsang Province is making every effort to respond jointly with public and private sectors to ensure the safety of residents during the summer rainy season and periods of heavy rainfall.
Yeongyang County is fully committed to the safety of its residents ahead of the heavy rainfall period.
On May 30, a village patrol team was formed, consisting of 115 village chiefs familiar with the local geography and environment, 146 members of the voluntary disaster prevention corps, 57 members of the volunteer fire brigade, 54 members of the voluntary crime prevention corps, and 195 public officials. This has established a foundation to protect residents from unpredictable extreme rainfall and disasters occurring during vulnerable hours.
In June, training was completed to utilize a smartphone app to identify landslide-prone areas and predicted damage zones, enabling real-time information sharing.
The county plans to strengthen the activities of the village patrol team to actively respond to the increasing risk of natural disasters caused by heavy rainfall each year, and to continuously promote safety guidelines and evacuation systems to residents in case of emergencies.
County Governor Oh Dochang stated, "Nothing is more important than the safety of our residents," and added, "We will do our utmost within the administration to ensure the safety of our residents from disasters. I also ask all residents to actively cooperate with evacuation procedures according to the safety guidelines in the event of a disaster."
