Prosecutors Demand Strict Punishment for Sexual Misconduct Crimes
The prosecution has requested a 2-year prison sentence for the former precinct chief who was arrested and indicted on charges of sexually harassing a fellow employee.
On the 5th, at the Cheonan Branch of the Daejeon District Court Criminal Division 1, during the sentencing hearing for Mr. A (59), the prosecution stated, "There is a need for strict punishment for sexual misconduct crimes," and requested a 2-year prison sentence.
Regarding Mr. A's request for bail, the prosecution also expressed an opinion to dismiss it, stating, "As a precinct chief, he held a position that could exert influence over personnel and work evaluations, and considering his 33 years of service as a police officer, there is a concern about evidence tampering."
Mr. A was arrested and indicted in March for forcibly touching the body of a female police officer sitting next to him during a company dinner at a restaurant in Cheonan.
Meanwhile, Mr. A admitted to all the charges during the trial, reached a settlement with the victims, and then requested bail. The victims recently submitted a settlement agreement and a letter of no desire for punishment to the court.
