The Gwangsan District Council of Gwangju Metropolitan City has elected Councilor Kim Myung-soo as the chairperson and Councilor Lee Woo-hyung as the vice-chairperson for the second half of the 9th term.
On the 5th, the Gwangsan District Council held elections for the chairperson and vice-chairperson during the 1st plenary session of the 289th extraordinary meeting. The election was conducted by secret ballot among the council members, and the winners were determined by a majority of the total members present and a majority of votes from those present.
In his acceptance speech, Councilor Kim said, “I will do my best to fulfill the council’s fundamental role, ensure that all council members communicate and cooperate to build a trusted council, and dedicate myself to legislative activities for the happiness of the district residents. I hope you will give your strong support so that the council can take a leap forward as a new and vibrant council for the next two years.”
Councilor Lee expressed his thoughts, saying, “In the second half, I will strive to thoroughly perform the role of vice-chairperson so that the Gwangsan District Council can uphold principles and carry out legislative activities faithful to the basics as a representative body that realizes the will of the people. I ask for your generous support and encouragement as the council moves forward on its journey.”
The Gwangsan District Council will conclude the formation of the second half’s leadership by appointing standing committee members and electing committee chairs at the 2nd plenary session convening on the 8th, after which it will begin full-scale legislative activities.
