Namwon City in Jeonbuk announced on the 5th that an eco-friendly electric low-floor bus will be newly introduced in Namwon City for the first time this November.
The city plans to newly introduce one eco-friendly low-floor bus in November and begin full operation in December.
The low-floor bus has a lower floor compared to conventional buses and is equipped with a lift, making it convenient for transportation-vulnerable groups (people with disabilities, the elderly, pregnant women) to use public transportation. It also uses electricity, helping to reduce noise and exhaust emissions.
Due to existing road conditions, the city had difficulty introducing low-floor buses, but it plans to judge the feasibility of operation through a pilot operation of one bus and expand up to 28 buses in the long term.
A city official said, “We will provide transportation means such as low-floor buses and special transportation services to improve mobility convenience for transportation-vulnerable groups and strive to guarantee the right to mobility for more citizens.”
