On the 5th at around 10:47 a.m., the Seoul Metropolitan Government sent a safety disaster message stating, "Smoke has occurred in the air conditioning machine room at Heukseok Station on Line 9, and trains are passing through without stopping. Please use other transportation." About 13 minutes after the message was sent, at around 11 a.m., train operations at Heukseok Station resumed normally.
According to Line 9 officials, the smoke that occurred that day was caused by the wear of the fan belt in the air conditioning machine room on the first basement floor of Heukseok Station, and it was confirmed that the smoke was not due to a fire.
Heukseok Station also experienced smoke of unknown origin on the 1st, four days earlier, which temporarily halted train operations. According to Line 9 officials, the smoke at that time is presumed to have come from outside.
