The Special Committee on Medical Education to Allow Public Observation for 'Medical Students and Residents'

The Special Committee for Proper Medical Care (Olteukwi) announced on the 5th that from the 3rd meeting held on the afternoon of the 6th, public observation will be fully allowed for medical students and residents.

Olteukwi explained, "This is to enhance transparency in the discussion process and to build trust from residents and medical students," adding, "We have decided to fully allow public observation so that the decision-making process can be closely monitored."

The 3rd meeting is scheduled to take place at 3 p.m. on the 6th at the Korean Medical Association building in Yongsan-gu, Seoul. Medical students or doctors who wish to observe must register in advance through a Google form. When applying, doctors must provide their license number, and medical students must indicate their affiliated school. On the day of the meeting, identity verification through a medical license or student ID is required for entry. Additionally, if there are many applicants wishing to observe, entry may be limited on a first-come, first-served basis due to space constraints.

Im Jin-su, Director of Planning at the Korean Medical Association, stated, "The anonymity of observing medical students and residents will be strictly protected," and explained, "Attendees do not represent the opinions of their respective professions, nor are they granted voting rights; observation only is permitted." He added, "We decided to allow observation to directly demonstrate that Olteukwi is not a consultative body for unilateral secret negotiations, as some have feared, but rather to support young doctors who are interested in the association's trends and want to raise their voices."
