Visits to Santa Clara and Santa Fe, etc.
Gyeonggi-do Icheon City announced on the 5th that Mayor Kim Kyung-hee will visit the United States from the 6th to the 14th for a 7-night, 9-day trip to strengthen exchange and cooperation with friendly cities in the U.S., which had been interrupted due to COVID-19.
During this period, Mayor Kim will visit Santa Clara City in California and Santa Fe City in New Mexico. In Santa Clara, she will meet with Mayor Lisa Gilmore to sign a sister city agreement between the two cities, which had been suspended since COVID-19. Mayor Kim will also visit the new office of HCT America in San Jose and SK Hynix America. Additionally, she plans to attend 'Semicon West 2024,' North America's largest semiconductor equipment and materials exhibition, and engage in activities to attract corporate investment.
Mayor Kim will then visit Santa Fe City to meet with Mayor Alan Webber and attend the opening ceremony of the local representative festival, the International Folk Art Market (IFAM). Santa Fe City established a sister city agreement with Icheon City in 2013 and sent a delegation to the Icheon Ceramic Festival held last April. Mayor Kim will also hold meetings with local education officials, including the superintendent of education, the chairperson of the public school board, and the president of St. John's College Santa Fe campus, to discuss student and school exchange programs between the two cities.
Mayor Kim said, "Exchanges with overseas sister and friendly cities should expand beyond administration to include businesses and citizens," adding, "During this business trip, we will promote Icheon's potential and aim for the city's economic and cultural growth through cooperation with global partners."
