"Father Passed Away in Sicheong Station Accident"…4 Million Subscriber YouTuber Consoles Victim's Son

Fan's Email and Phone Call Response
"Not Just 'Gajoku' in Words, but Real Family"

A popular YouTuber with 4 million subscribers reportedly personally attended the funeral of a fan who lost his father in the wrong-way driving disaster at Sicheong Station.

On the 4th, the YouTube channel 'BokyemTV' uploaded a video titled 'The Bereaved Family of the Sicheong Station Accident Is My Family.' In the video, Bokyem revealed an email he received from a fan who was a bereaved family member of the Sicheong Station disaster. The sender of the email was Mr. A, the second son of a man in his 50s who died in the accident.

Mr. A recounted, "At 9:55 PM on July 1st, while I was working, I received a call from my father. I was surprised to hear a strange voice instead of my father, so I asked who it was. The paramedic urgently asked for my father's resident registration number and said he was in cardiac arrest and told me to come quickly."

He continued, "When I arrived and heard about the accident, I was told that a man in his 70s hit pedestrians at Sicheong Station, and my father died instantly." He added, "My father was 55 years old, and this unbelievable situation is so hard and painful that I am sending this email."

Later, Bokyem also spoke directly with Mr. A over the phone. Mr. A was tearful as he received comfort from Bokyem. He said, "I thought of my older brother and saw how he took care of the family (BokyemTV's fans), so I really thought of him as family and called. I wanted some comfort." Listening quietly to Mr. A, Bokyem replied, "We are family."

Mr. A had been a fan of Bokyem since childhood and had consistently shared his small daily stories with Bokyem through emails. Bokyem said, "Looking through the emails he sent, there were messages like 'Brother, I've been watching you since high school,' 'I'm entering university,' 'Brother, I'm going to the military,' 'I came back from the military, and it's good to see you again,' and so on."

Bokyem emphasized, "It seems that (Mr. A) contacted me because he was struggling after his father's accident. I feel that emotion. After attending Mr. A's father's funeral, I told him to stay strong and gave him a hug. I want to be your real family, not just saying 'kazoku' (family) in words."

Meanwhile, on the evening of the 1st at 9 PM, a wrong-way driving accident occurred near the intersection by Sicheong Station on Seoul Subway Line 2, resulting in 9 deaths and 7 injuries, totaling 16 casualties. The driver of the offending vehicle, Mr. A (68), is under police investigation on charges of professional negligence causing death and injury under the Special Act on Traffic Accident Handling.
