First People Power Party Meeting After 22nd National Assembly Opening at City Hall, 4 PM on the 5th
Mayor Park Hyungjun Requests City and People Power Party to Cooperate and Support for 'Busan Citizens' Happiness'
Park Hyungjoon, the Mayor of Busan, has officially begun communication and cooperation with the 22nd National Assembly as the second half of the 8th popularly elected administration starts, aiming to realize the vision of a 'Global Hub City.'
On the afternoon of the 5th at 4 PM, the city will hold a party-government council meeting with the Busan branch of the People Power Party in the main conference room at City Hall to discuss current municipal issues and secure next year's national funding.
The meeting will be attended by Mayor Park Hyungjoon, key city officials, Park Sooyoung, head of the People Power Party's Busan branch, and other local National Assembly members.
The city plans to deepen and broaden its cooperation by intensively discussing solutions for 15 urgent issues across four areas with the People Power Party's Busan National Assembly members: ▲Global Hub City ▲Leap as a Southern Region Innovation Growth Base ▲Enhancement of Regional Competitiveness ▲Creation of a Citizen Happiness City.
Since the April 10 general election, Mayor Park has quickly built consensus on key city issues with the local political community, including hosting a dinner meeting with the newly elected People Power Party members from Busan just one month after the election (on May 13).
Since April, the Political Affairs Advisor has been continuously providing briefings on key issues to first-term lawmakers individually, and on June 28, the Director of Planning and Coordination held a briefing session at the National Assembly Members' Office Building for the People Power Party's local aides, further strengthening the party-government cooperation system.
Local National Assembly members from the People Power Party have also proposed the 'Special Act on the Creation of a Global Hub City' and amendments to the 'Korea Development Bank Act' as soon as the 22nd National Assembly opened. It is expected that communication and cooperation between the city and the People Power Party's Busan branch will generate great synergy for Busan's development.
At the meeting, a consensus will also be formed on key national funding projects that require state financial support next year, ensuring that related projects can proceed without setbacks.
Discussions will be held on securing national funding for 22 key projects across all sectors of Busan's economy, transportation, safety, culture, tourism, and sports, including: ▲Busan-Yangsan-Ulsan Metropolitan Railway Construction ▲Urban Railway Construction between Sasang and Hadan ▲Development and Demonstration of a New Research Reactor for Export ▲Reconstruction of Sajik Baseball Stadium ▲Support for the Nurturing of Glocal University 30 ▲Construction of Busan Marina Biz Center ▲Improvement Project for Suyeong Bay Natural Disaster Risk Zone ▲Creation of Nakdong Sunset Hwamyeong Eco Park, and more.
Mayor Park Hyungjoon stated, "With record low birth rates, declining economic growth, and widening disparities, both the region and the nation are facing growth limits. Now, more than ever, Busan must vigorously press the pedal of innovation." He emphasized, "If the construction of Gadeokdo New Airport, the innovation infrastructure for the 'Global Hub City,' and the relocation of the Korea Development Bank proceed smoothly, and if the institutional foundation, the 'Special Act on the Creation of Busan Global Hub City,' is passed quickly, Busan can compete with the world's leading global cities." He added, "The city and local National Assembly members from the People Power Party are moving toward the shared goal of 'Busan Citizens' Happiness.' I hope we can join hands as 'pace makers' and move forward together," requesting the full support and cooperation of the People Power Party's Busan branch for Busan's new leap forward.
Having communicated freely with both the ruling and opposition parties, as well as central and local political circles for Busan's development, Mayor Park stated that, starting with today's party-government council meeting with the People Power Party's Busan branch, he will fully initiate cooperative governance with the political community.
